Thank you for your interest in the Glynn County Fire
Department’s website. Your contribution of photographs, news
items and articles are welcomed. However, we would like to take
this opportunity to offer some helpful suggestions.
The Glynn County Fire Department website focuses primarily on
issues involving the Glynn County Fire Department. Both current
and historical features are welcomed.
You are solely responsible for ensuring that any material or
information you provide - including but not limited to text,
photographs, and sound - does not violate the copyright,
trademark, trade secret, or any other personal or proprietary
rights of any third party or is posted with the permission of
the owner (s) of such rights.
Not all articles or photographs may be published. The website
administrator has the discretion to decide whether content or
material is appropriate for use on the Website. You acknowledge
that the website administrator has the absolute right to delete,
move and edit content and material for any reason, in any
manner, at any time, without notice. Some of the reasons that
we decline to use material may be simply because of space and/or
content limitations and the contributor should not feel hesitate
from contributing in the future.
No payment is made for use of photos, articles, or other
contribution.

Article Submission
Guidelines |
| |
|
When gathering information for an article, avoid the use of
"second hand" information, hear-say or "rumors." Verify your
information from authoritative sources, utilize quotations if
possible. When writing about a specific activity, provide a
short synopsis of the incident and of the personnel affected,
but the bulk of your article should focus on the incident.
We prefer that articles are not formatted in any manner, meaning
that the first line of an article should not be indented, type
should not be justified, words should not be bold faced,
italicized, etc. Once you have typed the final draft of your
article, proofread it for typos and accuracy. We prefer that
articles be submitted by email with the images sent by mail or
email. If this is not possible, articles may be submitted in
printed form or on 3 1/2" computer diskettes.
If submitting materials via postal service, please label all of
your materials with your name and address. Mark every print,
caption page, and letter so that you may deservedly see your
credit line in print. All information on prints should be
written on a label before it is adhered to the print. Place the
label on the back in a corner. Include on each label your name,
address and all relevant data concerning the image. DO NOT WRITE
DIRECTLY ON THE BACK OF PRINTS because this interferes with the
reproduction process. Not having this information where we
require it may preclude our publishing your material. |

Photograph Submission
Guidelines |
| |

Your photo
contribution makes the Glynn County Fire Department’s website
that it is. We rely on photographers to get us top quality
photographs. Following are the types of photos we require for
quality reproduction.
While we will
consider any photograph we prefer to use color prints or digital
images. Our experience has shown that slower film speeds (less
than ASA 400) produce the best color publication. Higher speed
films (ASA 400-1000, etc.) while acceptable are not desired
because they yield grainy images when enlarged.
For quality
black and white photo reproduction we require crisp, contrast,
well-exposed prints. Generally, the larger the print the better
the reproduction but smaller prints are acceptable. It is better
to reduce a larger print than to enlarge a smaller print. We can
use color or black and white for black and white reproduction.
Some color prints may be reproduced in black and white.
When selecting
an image or print to send to the website, select contributions
that are not blurred, out of focus, or poorly exposed.
Submissions showing non-working apparatus should have
compartment doors closed with no personnel present. The
apparatus views selected for publication typically are those
that are 3/4 front-side views with sun shinning on both the
front and side of the vehicle with all shadows behind the
vehicle and no shadows or obstructions blocking or projected on
the vehicle. For editing purposes there should be some space in
front of and behind the vehicle so we can do some cropping of
the photo without cropping into the vehicle. However, don't
stand so far back that the resulting photo is a small image of
the vehicle. The vehicle should fill up 90% of the width of the
photo.
All printed
photographic contributions are returned whether or not published
provided they are legibly marked with the photographer's name
and address.
