Tommy E. Wheelis, 49, of Brunswick, died Friday,
February 22, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in
Savannah.
Tommy was a
fireman who worked for the Glynn County Fire Department
and held several positions including arson investigator
and most recently fire inspector. He loved his job
but in his off time he enjoyed spending time with his
nieces and nephews and his dalmatian, Chief.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, Gene and Pete Wheelis.
Tommy is survived by his sister, Barbara Wheelis Moore
and her husband, Glenn, of Hortense; brother, Teral
Lavelle Wheelis of Brunswick; aunt, Betty Tootle
Brandies and her husband, Teddy, of Waynesville; uncle,
C.B. Wheelis of Bremen; beloved niece and nephews,
James, Saka, Tyrone, and Cary; two great-nieces,
Danielle and Elaine; five great-nephews, Jesse, Alex,
Brad, James, and Jonathan; three greatgreat nephews,
Clay, Donovan, and Dallan; and several cousins.
Visitation will
be held Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Edo Miller and Sons
Funeral Home.
Funeral
services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Edo
Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Emory Wilson
officiating.
The Glynn
County Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will
follow in Rich Church Cemetery in Screven.
