Died:  January 26, 2006

 

 

 

 

Robert Larry Alford Sr., 67, died Jan. 26 at his residence.

 

A native of Glynn County, Mr. Alford was a retired Glynn County fireman. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

 

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. L. Carl Brown officiating.

 

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Glynn County firemen.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be officers of the church.

 

Mr. Alford's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the Prudence Hall Chapel of Hall, Jones and Brown Funeral Home.

 

Survivors include his mother, Susie Brooks Alford of Brunswick; four sons, Robert Alford Jr., Earl Alford and Michael Chapman, all of Brunswick, and Jimmy Alford of Germany; a daughter, Pamela A. Green of Brunswick; four brothers, Nathaniel Alford Jr., Arthur Alford, James Alford and Joel Alford, all of Brunswick; four sisters, Dorothy Cuthbert, Patricia Anthony and Francis Anthony, all of Atlanta, and Betty Bellman of Decatur; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
