Howard Coffin "Howdy" Jones, 69, a resident of Sea Island, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his residence.

 

Mr. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of Glynn County. He was the former manager of the Sea Island Beach Club, a member of the Sea Island Company Board of Directors and Executive Committee and a board member of Frederica Bank and Trust and of BB&T. Mr. Jones was a member of Christ Church, the Navy League and Glynn County Rescue Volunteer Fire Department, St. Simons Island. He was on the Salvation Army Board.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, in Christ Church Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Mears, the Rev. Tom Fitzgerald and the Rev. Tom Stroud officiating.

 

A reception will follow in the parish house of Christ Church.

 

Survivors are his wife, Jan Jones of Sea Island, Ga.; two daughters; Margy Jones and Melanie Cranford, both of St. Simons Island, Ga.; three stepsons; Kim Westberry of Watkinsville, Ga., Mike Westberry of Kingsland, Ga., and Robbie Lang of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters; Marianna Kuntz and Katharine O'Conner, both of St. Simons Island, Ga.; a brother, A. W. Jones Jr. of St. Simons Island, Ga.; six grandchildren; Kelly Elizabeth Cranford, Howard Jay Cranford, Emily Kate Westberry, Keegan Lang Westberry, Benjamin Michael Westberry and Robert Isaac Lang; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Howard Jones to The Salvation Army, P.O.
