Robert R. "Bob" Munro, 66, of Brunswick died Friday at the local
hospital (Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center - Brunswick,
GA).
A native of New
Brunswick, N.J., he had made his home in Glynn County since
1971. Mr. Munro served in the U.S. Navy for more than 18 years,
and was a Vietnam War veteran. He also served as a firefighter
with the Glynn County Fire Department from 1974-1986. He
attended United Pentecostal Church.
A memorial service will
be held 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons
Funeral Home with the Rev. H.E. Wheatley officiating. A burial
service with military honors will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at
Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, S.C.
Honorary pallbearers
will be Chuck Dixon, Robbie Dixon, Arthur Mitchell and Bryan
Bratcher.
The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his
wife, Ruby Bratcher Munro of Brunswick; five sons, Terry E.
Holmes and Tracy A. Holmes, both of Brunswick, Tony M. Holmes of
Savoy, Texas, Robert C. Munro and Ronald C. Munro, both of
Florida; three daughters, Starr Dixon and Casey N. Mitchell,
both of Brunswick and Christina M. Munro of Florida; a brother,
Donald D. Munro Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; and eleven
grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests those wishing may make memorial contributions to
the Georgia Diabetes Research Foundation, 1211 Whispering Pines
Road, Albany, GA 31707.
