R. G. Taylor, age 79, of Brunswick, died March 26, 2004 at the local hospital.

 

A native of Clinch County, Ga., he had made his home in Glynn County since 1971. Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He then joined the Glynn County Fire Department for ten years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and New Hope Methodist Church.

 

Surviving are his wife, Katie Taylor, Brunswick; two daughters, Sarah Diane Collins and Linda Faye Taylor, both of Brunswick; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Wayne Taylor and Yvonne Taylor, of Brunswick; a brother, A.J. Taylor of Alma, Ga.; three sisters, Ruth Lee, of Alma, Ga., Ella Mae Crawford of Hazelhurst, Ga. and Clara Taylor of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Robbie Collins of Townsend, Robyn Stock, Scott Funk and Summer Lopez, all of Brunswick, Lloyd Taylor of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Blake Taylor of Virginia Beach, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Rainey and a Navy Chaplain officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Robbie Collins, Lloyd Taylor, Scott Funk, Blake Taylor, Sam Carter and Mikie Zinski.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Glynn County Fire Department, Chief Lee Stewart of the Brunswick Fire Department and the men of New Hope Methodist Church.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
