Ginger Callum Fernandes, 47, of Waynesville died Tuesday at her
residence.
Mrs. Fernandes, a
native of New Haven, Conn., had lived in Brunswick most of her
life. Prior to becoming a Glynn County firefighter and cardiac
technician in 1982, she had been a volunteer firefighter with
the St. Simons Island Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Fernandes
retired from the Glynn County Fire Department as a lieutenant in
2002. She was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs.
Fernandes was a Baptist.
A memorial service will
be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Ray
Amos officiating.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations to "Shop with a Firefighter," Glynn
County Fire Department Christmas Assistance Program, c/o First
Georgia Bank.
Survivors include her
husband, Ronald Fernandes of Waynesville; parents, Carl and
Francis Callum of Roswell; a stepson, R.J. Fernandes of
Brunswick; three sisters, Christy Love, Debbie Strickland and
Beth Brown, all of Alpharetta; a brother, Jimmy Anderson of
Cumming; and several nieces and nephews.
