Pete Walters Jr., 41, of St. Simons Island died Friday.

 

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The burial, with fireman's rites, will follow at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.

 

The pallbearers will be Rip Revels, Bobby Putnam, Andy Jones, Bruce Dunham, Steve Beherns, Joe Combs, Mike Gilmore and Jim Wall.

 

The honorary pallbearers will be the St. Simons Island Volunteer Firefighters, Glynn County Fire Department, Ballard Volunteer Firefighters, Brunswick Fire Department and the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort security staff.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation, 3614 J. Dewy Gray Circle, Building C, Augusta, GA 30909.

 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

Survivors include his wife, Diane Walters of St. Simons Island; two daughters, Elizabeth Walters and Emily Walters, both of St. Simons Island; a son, Mickey Walters of St. Simons Island; his mother, Marsha Walters of Birmingham, Ala.; his father, Peter Walters Sr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Cheryl Laricey of Birmingham; his paternal grandmother, Edith Walters of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Walters, a native of Montgomery, Ala., had been a resident of Glynn County since 1972. He was a lieutenant with the Glynn County Fire Department, where had had worked for the past 23 years. He was also employed at the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, where he had been the director of security for the past 17 years.
