Carl O. Svendson Jr., 91, of Woodbine died Sunday.

 

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island with the Rev. David Page officiating.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Cofer, Howard Wilson, J.A. (Dock) Jones, Richard Blount, Jim Harley, Johnnie Garner, John H. Ringeling and Michael Helton.

 

Flowers will be accepted and memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

Surviving are his wife, Bertha P. Svendsen; three sons, Carl O. Svendsen III of Cincinnatti, Ohio, John H. Svendsen of Woodbine and Stanley Svendsen of McMinnville, Ore.; two daughters, Sonja D. Wacin of Orange Park, Fla. and Mary L. Paulson of Des Moines, Iowa.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and six step-children.

 

Born in Brunswick, Mr. Svendsen lived on St. Simons for 65 years. He lived in Harrietts Bluff for the past 24 years. He was a retired captain with the St. Simons Island Fire Department and he attended Glynn Academy.

 

Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
