Through
the years the St. Simons Island Volunteer Fire Department has
participated in many fundraisers. Beginning in the 1950's
with a New Years Eve dance and then in the 1960's with the Miss
Flame contest, all of which have since been discontinued, and
finally the current Calendar fundraiser. We have been
mailing out calendars, at no charge to the recipient, on an
annual basis since mid 1970's to the property owners on St.
Simons Island and Sea Island. It has been with the
contributions received as a result of these calendars that we
are able to purchase our gear and other necessary
equipment. Additionally, from time to time, we have
provided additional firefighting equipment to the Glynn County
Fire Department that would otherwise not be purchased.

In
addition to the volunteers fundraiser, the St. Simons Island Volunteers
assist the career personnel with their fundraisers.
