GLYNN COUNTY, GA – Saturday, April 12, the Glynn County Fire Department was busy supporting multiple public events.  The Department supported the Little League opening day festivities on both the mainland and on St. Simons Island.

On the mainland, Engine 5 led a parade from the area of CB Greer Elementary school to the North Glynn Sports Complex.  Engine 5, along with all of the mainland county teams with their parents proceeded to the ball fields where the ball season began with many games being played.

Shortly after the festivities on the mainland commenced the same scenario began playing out on Saint Simons Island.  Engine 32 led a parade of ball players and their parents from the Pier in the village to Mallory Ball Park.  Here too, once at the park the little league ball season began with many opening day ball games.

These parades, considered by many are a highlight of the day’s activities, signifying the beginning of the new ball season.  This day is looked forward too by fire department personnel as much as the children and parents.
