GLYNN COUNTY, GA – Saturday night
marked the successful end to a week-long display and public awareness event
provided by the Glynn County Fire Department. The event done in conjunction
with the National Fire Prevention Week featured displays and information about
fire prevention and safety.
This year, as in the past, the
Department has been provided with a vacant store in the Colonial Mall at Glynn
Place to use as a base of operation during the event.
The Department sets up the “store”
with displays containing fire service collectibles from private collections as
well as other material provided by the Department.
The week-long event is the ideal
opportunity for the Department to reach a large number of the Counties citizens
and provide fire prevention and safety tips.
The volunteer division assists with
manning the “store” during the week and provides personnel for some of the
activities on Saturday. The volunteers also utilized the week as an opportunity
to promote volunteerism in the community.
The event concluded on Saturday night
following puppet shows, clowns and demonstrations by department personnel.
Plans are already in the process for
next years’ activities which should be one of the best Fire Prevention Weeks
yet. So mark your calendars, October 5 thru October 12 will be Fire Prevention
Week in 2008.
