A hazardous materials team with the Glynn County Fire Department cordoned off a business Wednesday after someone apparently dumped hydraulic fluid into a sewer manhole just south of the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport.

A woman checking on Island Pipeline at 3000 Sidney Lanier Drive called authorities shortly before 11 p.m. after observing an open manhole in the rear of the building surrounded by empty buckets.

Glynn County called the Haz-mat team after finding 25 5-gallon empty buckets.

Authorities speculated that hydraulic fluid in the cans had been poured into the manhole.
