GLYNN COUNTY, GA – At
approximately 1:00 pm Tuesday the Glynn County Fire Department was
dispatched to a residential structure fire in a remote area of the county.
Fire Engines from 3 County fire
stations along with a water tanker and the volunteers responded. As personnel
responded toward the fire many reported seeing a large plume of black smoke in
the area of the fire.
Department of Natural Resources
personnel were on scene prior to the arrival of the first fire engine and
reported that the single wide mobile home was fully engulfed and that the fire
had spread into the nearby woods.
The local Georgia Forestry office was
notified and on standby in the event that their services were needed.
Lt. Hudson was first on scene and
began a defensive operation to protect exposures until additional resources
arrived. Once the other fire engines arrived personnel quickly knocked down the
fire in the residence and woods.
Personnel remained on scene for
several hours extinguishing remaining hot spots.
Due to the extent of damage the Red
Cross was notified to assist the occupant with daily essentials until they could
get back on the feet.
The cause of the fire is under
investigation and there were no injuries as a result of the blaze.
