Some of the destruction can be seen on the exterior of the residence.  A good portion of the interior was destroyed.

Fast action saves father and son.

GLYNN COUNTY, GA – Late Saturday evening the Glynn County Fire Department was alerted of a structure fire.  Personnel and apparatus from two stations along with the volunteers responded.

First arriving units reported heavy black smoke and fire coming from the residence.  Once on scene engine and ambulance personnel facilitated a rapid knock-down of the blaze.

The rapid actions of department personnel kept the fire contained to the main room with smoke and heat extending into the remainder of the house.

The father, alerted to something being amiss, opened the bedroom door to find the rest of their home in flames.  Choked by smoke the father grabbed his son and leapt to safety through a plate glass window.  Suffering minor scratches and cuts but escaping with their lives.

There where no other injuries related to the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
