BRUNSWICK, GA – Saturday June 11, the
Ballard volunteer division conducted their third annual volunteer fundraiser
boot drive at the Brunswick, Georgia Wal-Mart. With the proceeds from this boot
drive aiding with the purchase of gear and equipment the volunteers feel that
this fundraiser is important to the organizations operation.
Local radio stations came out in
support of the effort and set-up remotes. Those participating included Magic
105.9, with Jenna McNeal and Mark Douglas, and Coastal Country 104.1 "The Wave",
with Michele Logan and John Coffey. These radio stations have supported the
departments' efforts in the past and just recently received a national community
service award for their efforts.
Volunteers Fernandes and Woodward did
some live public service announcements over the radio stations promoting the
volunteers and asking that anyone interested in volunteering come by the station
on a meeting night.
As with the past fundraisers this one
was a success and plans are in the works preparing for another fundraiser in the
future.
