BRUNSWICK, GA - Sunday morning
shortly after midnight the Glynn County Fire Department was dispatched to a
residential kitchen fire. The units from the headquarters station along with
the Ballard volunteers responded. Upon arrival the first due units reported
heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure.
Personnel quickly established water
supply and deployed attack lines. Personnel preformed horizontal ventilation
operations to remove the smoke and heat from the unburned portion of the
residence and aid in suppression operations.
During suppression operations
personnel were able to salvage several pieces of furniture that the family later
identified as being of importance to them. One such piece was said to have been
handed down from their ancestors from the civil war era.
There were no injuries that resulted
from the fire.
