GLYNN COUNTY, GEORGIA -  Friday, February 25th  was the date for the annual volunteer appreciation banquet.  It is at this event that Glynn County recognizes the work and effort that the volunteers put forth throughout the year.

This year the banquet was held at the Holiday Inn on us 341 in Brunswick, Georgia.   Along with the general recognition of all volunteers this is the event at which the outgoing officers, volunteer of the year and new members are recognized.

Guest speakers included Glynn County Commissioners Ulirich ‘Uli’ Keller, Carl Johnson, Paul ‘Howard’ Lynn, and Don Hogan.

The volunteer fire fighters of the year were recognized, from the Ballard volunteer division Charles ‘Doc’ Carroll, and from the St. Simons Island division Jay Putnam.  Both members were presented with a plaque.  The new volunteers recognized included Aimee Combs, William ‘Bill’ Brown, George Davis, Diane Walters, Jeff Woodward, and Garrett Wright.

Following the awards ceremony the incoming volunteer officers were named.  Glynn County Commission chairman Howard Lynn performed the swearing in of the new volunteer officers.
