The Brunswick and Glynn County fire departments were hard at work Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to two fires in the city of Brunswick between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

A fire in a storage shed at 2536 Cherry St. caused $2,000 in damage to the structure and its contents.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:49 p.m. to find the storage shed in the backyard in flames. It took city firefighters, with assistance from their Glynn County colleagues, five minutes to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. No one was injured.

A second fire at 4 p.m. had firefighters hard at work again.

An unattended pot on a kitchen stove started a fire at 3114 Brailsford Ave.

The fire department said the fire began on the stove, but quickly spread to the cabinets and attic. No one was injured.

Firefighters were forced to pull the ceiling down to extinguish the fire.

The fire caused $15,000 in damage to the home and its contents. Glynn County firefighters also assisted in the fire.
