Volunteer
firefighters from the Glynn County Fire Departments’ Ballard
Volunteer Division successfully completed a course in basic
firefighting on March 30, 2002.
Graduating volunteer firefighters (standing l to r) Rish
Boswell, Lenny Duckett, Adam Marat, Scott Cook, and Training
Officer Captain R. Marat, (seated l to r) Jeff Stokes, Dave
Gill, Eli Jones, and Brad Marat
have, over the past several months, demonstrated the dedication
and perseverance necessary as volunteer firefighters and are a
welcomed addition to the Glynn County Fire Departments’
volunteer division.
All
firefighters with the Glynn County Fire Department are required,
as a minimum, to complete a basic fire school, either provided
by the Glynn County Fire Department or the Georgia State Fire
Academy in Forsyth, Georgia. The basic fire school, provided by the Glynn County Fire
Department, is scheduled on weekends and provides volunteer
firefighters with a basic academic understanding of the
principles, theories, and practices utilized while firefighting.
In addition to the academic classroom work, the
firefighters were required to successfully demonstrate various
practical techniques throughout the course.
The course concluded with a written exam and a series of
practical evolutions conducted at the Glynn County Fire
Departments’ training center, located near the Glynco jetport.
All
firefighters both career and volunteer are required to continue
their education and training to maintain the proficiency
necessary at an emergency incident.
Once again congratulations and best regards to Rish
Boswell, Scott Cook, Lenny Duckett, Dave Gill,
Eli Jones, Adam Marat, Brad Marat, and Jeff Stokes for a job well done.
